This is where the Hero’s exists before his present story begins, oblivious of the adventures to come. It’s his safe place. His everyday life where we learn crucial details about our Hero, his true nature, capabilities and outlook on life. This anchors the Hero as a human, just like you and me, and makes it easier for us to identify with him and hence later, empathize with his plight. 1 of 5: BJ kidnapped Yearly For Christmas
Larry’s Dad sells addictive gadgets, the gadget represents any addictive device or substance that makes daily life harder by giving pleasures that are distractive, and has the kids sell them for him. Gang wars result as people vie for territory and selling rights. Larry is conflicted about it, he loves his sister and mom but his dad took him when he forced a divorce on the mother, who is Native American, and stole her land. Larry wants to stop his Dad but is not big enough.
Don’t get discouraged with this chapter, it is by far the longest chapter because it explains the main story background for this story and for most all the psychotoons, past and future. In this chapter you can read the widgets’ dialogues and other commentaries or not. If you want to speed read the story it is in what the kids say.
The story starts with Larry’s Dad dragging off Larry’s sister, BJ, for Christmas. Larry’s Dad is the richest man in town and so does pretty much what he wants to. Every year he has Larry help him kidnap BJ. He does not have custody of her nor visitation as he has been too mean to her.
Larry’s nice friends, Molly, Sue, George, and Edgar tried to talk him out of helping his Dad take BJ, but to no avail. His dad took custody of him when he was three and controls him. To compensate Larry feels his father has made him tough so he can live in what he perceives as the real world.
The Four Kids did not give up on Larry this year, they take him to their tree house to try and talk some sense into him. Will Larry be our hero? Or will there be others? Heroes are not always alone.
2 of 5: Edgar Starts With Perception, The First Stage Of The Brain To Process, His Father Is A News Caster.
Edgar explains the first step of brain processes is our perceptions. His pets are Ant and Bee as they are very good at details and looking for patterns. He reminds Larry of the fact that the love he use to have with his mother when he was small, would calm him when his father was too harsh.
3 of 5: Molly, Whose Mother Is A Counselor, Takes Over For The Second Stage Of Brain Processing, Feelings.
Fear of his dad’s abuse has put Larry into his lower nature to better survive by feeling tough and no need for love anymore. Sue’s pets are Cuddles the loving dog and Macho the scary cat.
Molly, the treehouse shrink, has two pets. Macho the scary cat and Cuddles the loving dog. Molly asks Edgar about his younger childhood fears that put him in his lower nature where he forgot about love and changed to being tough to survive the pain.
4 of 5: Sue Explores His Belief System, The Third Stage Of Brain Processing, Her Parents Run The Local Church.
Sue’s pet is Geru the bird, who can fly hight to see the bigger picture.
5 of 5 : Larry Tells George His Story Of The City’s Betrayal. George Is The Mayor’s Son And He Tries To Suggest To Larry That There Is Hope Of Doing Something, The Fourth Stage Of The Brain Is To Act.
George’s Pets are the patient turtle and energetic rabbit that with the help of turtle waits for the right time to act.
The Lower Nature widgets of lies and blaming were strong with Larry’s Dad. Larry’s mother knew she could not do anything sense he was so powerful and she was not. She gives Larry a heart to remind him of her love and all she taught him.
The Lower Nature widget Coyote was hard at work in the official workers. They feared Larry’s dad and to cover their tracks they gave Larry’s mother a long list of things to do before she could fight to get Larry back. It would take so long she would loose custody before she could complete it.
The network of lies cinched up Larry’s fate.
Love is not a factor in the strict letter of the law.
It is conjecture on George’s part. Politics always changes. What can be done is the question.
Well, another year goes by and it is Christmas again. Sure enough BJ and Larry’s dad is kidnapping her again. But this year people are a bit more concerned and want to do more.
1 of 3: Grandpa’s Attempt To Save BJ.
Grand Mother like Mother Nature nurtures children and Grand Father like Father Time tries to explain reality and the consequences that occur in time or factors that can spell disaster for himself.
Grandma tells Grandpa to help BJ from being kidnapped. They will set the mood for what will follow.
2 of 3: Grandma Gets Courage and She Attempts To Save BJ.
But GP looses courage and stops. The crowd that gathered was not helping anyone. So Grandma turns to Molly’s mother, a counselor, and Sue’s Mother, the preacher’s wife, both who confirm her views that they agree with her.
Grand Mother decides to approach closer to listen to the conversation and she hears the kids talking and decides to take action herself to save BJ. Little did she know the chaos she would cause and what would happen next.
3 of 3: In Desperation Larry Attempts To Save BJ
Larry had a moment of deep thought and made a decision that would eventually change his life to be a hero.
Larry decided to be a hero and confronted his father to save his sister. But he too failed, he was not strong enough to stop his father from taking his sister and the crowd did nothing. His father took BJ from her mother and left. Our little hero had failed. That is ok, heroes fail all the time. It is what they do after that that leads them to being a successful hero.
