3. Refusal Of The Call
Although the Hero may be eager to accept the quest, at this stage he will have fears that need overcoming. Second thoughts or even deep personal doubts as to whether or not he is up to the challenge. When this happens, the Hero will refuse the call and as a result may suffer somehow. The problem he faces may seem to much to handle and the comfort of home far more attractive than the perilous road ahead. This would also be our own response and once again helps us bond further with the reluctant Hero.
Cuz’s girl friend tells him his attitude is that he is into crime. She suggests he is fighting the wrong system.
CUZ has to pick sides, will he fight the corrupt system with Crime or Join the world of women and children to help them but he does not know how. He is not ready to be a hero.
Men have to live in both the world of men and of women. It is not an easy task. Cuz struggles with how to do that. Crime is very hard on women and children and counter productive for their sake. He mauls the different roles of women and men in his mind.
He thinks about the cooperation of females creating communities of families, that is what stabilized the society.
Love is what nurtures the young ones, as puppies. Fear from men who tensionally or unintentionally interfere with that causes fear and fear can be very hurtful to families.
He realizes the job of males is to help the females and young just as the male bird helps gather worms for the young.
Then more chicks survive to help the species survive the competition for resources and territory.
Cuz realizes those who patiently stop and look, feel, and think before they leap get to the finish line of life and survive longer because they have more freewill to decide what is best. But what is best? How does he live in both world of men and women, he knows how to fight but not to live in the world of women
Cuz has a lot more thinking to do to figure out if he wants to be a hero, for now he rejects the idea.
